Living with a Burmese is a unique experience. Your life will be changed when a Burmese is added to your household. They will steal your heart with their affectionate nature and sweet face. They will expect to be treated not just as a pet, but as members of the family. They will rule and you will happily obey. However, for all of their demands, they will reward you with undying love and devotion. Burmese need to be with people. If you are looking for a cat that will be a loving companion, the Burmese is for you. They love everyone, human and animal alike, and expect everyone to love them. They are emotional creatures. Hurt your Burmese’s feelings and he will sulk and pout. Fortunately, their loving nature allows them to quickly forgive. Burmese are often referred to as the "Velcro cat" as they stick by the side of their favorite person, always involved in the household activities and helping with chores. Burmese are highly intelligent and inquisitive, which sometimes gets them into trouble. They are experts at opening doors and every cupboard and closet must be explored. When bored, they will create ways to entertain themselves. Burmese have minds of their own and can be stubborn and insistent when they get an idea in their heads. Dog-like in their personalities, they will retrieve, see you off in the morning and greet you at the door at the end of your day. Burmese are extremely playful and remain so into adulthood. The Burmese is a muscular cat that is surprisingly heavy for its size. They are athletic, energetic and have no fear. They like to perform acrobatic tricks and love to jump and climb to the highest point they can find. Burmese should never be allowed outdoors as they are too naïve and trusting. They have little survival instinct. They believe all they need do to get their next meal is look up with those large gold eyes and their wish is their command.
